Legendary singer Darlene Love, known for her classic Christmas hit “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” is set to conquer another holiday by performing with the Boston Pops on July 4th. Love, who also sang backup vocals on “The Monster Mash,” is now becoming a sought-after performer for various holidays including Valentine’s Day.
At 82 years old, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer is excited to work with the Boston Pops once again, after previously performing with them in 2016 for their Gospel Night celebration. Love’s background in gospel music, thanks to her father being a pastor, has shaped her musical journey and led her to work with large orchestras like the Pops.
Although Love had to fight for recognition in her career, she has now become a prominent figure in the music industry, with fans eagerly booking her for various holiday-themed shows. Love’s upcoming performance with the Boston Pops on July 4th will also feature Broadway star Kelli O’Hara and the Mavericks.
