Georgia Governor Brian Kemp is embarking on a 10-day trip to South Korea, his sixth overseas trip since taking office. The purpose of the trip is to strengthen economic ties between Georgia and South Korea by meeting with businesses that are currently operating in Georgia and those considering opening locations there. The delegation, which includes lawmakers and state economic recruiters, will host a reception with Hyundai Motor Group to honor partnerships that have been cultivated over nearly four decades.
During his visit, Kemp will hold meetings with LG Group, SK Group, Hanwha Qcells, and CJ Foodville. These companies have investments in various sectors in Georgia, including electric vehicles, batteries, semiconductor materials, solar panels, and bakeries. The cost of the trip to taxpayers is not immediately available.
This visit follows Kemp’s previous trips to South Korea in 2019, Germany in 2020, Israel in May 2023, the nation of Georgia and France in June 2023, and attendance at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, in January 2023 and 2024. Kemp’s focus on international economic partnerships highlights Georgia’s commitment to fostering global business relationships for mutual benefit.
