Dozens of reproductive rights activists gathered in Lowell on Sunday to discuss the impact of the recent overturning of Roe v. Wade and the implications for abortion access in Massachusetts. State Rep. Vanna Howard and other elected officials expressed their outrage at the Supreme Court’s decision and called for action from the crowd, urging them to vote in order to make their voices heard. Lowell Mayor Daniel Rourke emphasized the need for continued support for women’s health decisions in the community. Nina Lee of Planned Parenthood League of MA highlighted the challenges faced by individuals in states with restricted abortion access, noting that many are traveling to Massachusetts for care. The Healthy Youth Coalition’s Jamie Klufts reminded protestors of the importance of voting in order to effect change. The rally served as a platform for elected officials, advocates, and activists to come together in solidarity and discuss the future of reproductive rights in the state.
