Man from Haverhill detained without bail in relation to explosive device

David Farnsworth, a 63-year-old man from Haverhill, was charged with multiple offenses following the discovery of an explosive device in a neighborhood. The incident prompted the evacuation of the area and the detonation of the device to ensure the safety of residents. Farnsworth appeared in court, where he pleaded not guilty and was held without bail. He is scheduled to appear in court again on July 19.

The discovery of the explosive device at 5 Rosebud Avenue on June 28 led to a response from Haverhill police and firefighters, as well as the State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit. Residents in the vicinity were evacuated while bomb squad technicians assessed the device. Due to the significant danger posed by the device, a controlled detonation was carried out to eliminate the threat.

Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident, and residents were able to return home once the area was deemed safe. A resident of the Rosebud Avenue address was found driving a Freightliner on Route 495 in Wrentham, leading to their arrest by state police. Route 495 was temporarily shut down and the vehicle was searched for any potential hazards.

The swift response by law enforcement and emergency personnel ensured the safety of the community during this alarming incident. Residents can rest assured knowing that the situation has been resolved and appropriate measures have been taken to prevent any further threats.
