Boston Red Sox’s farm system is buzzing with excitement as top prospects Marcelo Mayer, Roman Anthony, and Kyle Teel showcase their skills in Double-A. Mayer, the No. 4 overall pick in the 2021 draft, has been impressive with a .307 batting average, seven home runs, and 36 RBI. Anthony, at just 20 years old, has shown power with eight home runs and an .804 OPS. Teel, the 14th overall pick last year, has been dominant with a .303 batting average and eight home runs.
While these three players have been grabbing headlines, outfielder Matthew Lugo has quietly made his mark at Triple-A, batting .239 with four home runs and an .836 OPS in his first 18 games. In addition, Nick Yorke and Chase Meidroth have also been excelling at the Triple-A level.
Kristian Campbell has emerged as a potential fourth member of Boston’s “Big Three” with an impressive June performance in Double-A, hitting .420 with 34 hits and four home runs. However, pitcher Luis Perales suffered a season-ending injury with a UCL reconstruction (Tommy John surgery), while Wikelman Gonzalez struggled with an 8.18 ERA in June.
In High-A, Cutter Coffey has caught fire with seven home runs in six games, adding to the excitement in Boston’s farm system. Jhostynxon Garcia, another recent call-up, has also made an impact with his bat. Mikey Romero, Boston’s first-round pick in 2022, is slowly returning to form after a back injury derailed his first professional season.
Overall, the Red Sox’s farm system is teeming with talent and potential, with multiple prospects looking poised for promotions to higher levels as they continue to showcase their skills on the field.
