Breaking: Senior Hezbollah commander killed in Israel drone strike during Israel-Gaza conflict live coverage

Reports from Reuters indicate that a senior field commander in the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah was killed in an Israeli drone strike near Tyre. The individual killed has been identified as Abu Ali Nasser, the head of Hezbollah’s Aziz unit responsible for the eastern district on the Israel-Lebanon border. This incident is part of ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, with hundreds of casualties reported on both sides since October. Tens of thousands of civilians have been displaced as a result of the conflict.

In related news, the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestinians (UNRWA) reported that over 250,000 people have been affected by evacuation orders in southern Gaza. The UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Sigrid Kaag, stated that the war has displaced 80% of Gaza’s population and called for more aid and reopened borders to prevent a humanitarian disaster.

Meanwhile, in Israel, tensions remain high as the Israeli military continues to target militant groups in Gaza, particularly in the Shejaiya district. Thousands of Palestinians have been forced to flee the fighting, seeking refuge in temporary shelters. The Israeli army has issued evacuation orders for several areas in Gaza, leading to fears of renewed heavy battles in the region.

In other news, Slovenia’s conservative opposition has filed a request to nullify the parliament’s decision to recognize a Palestinian state. The opposition claims that the parliamentary vote breached rules and the constitution. This move follows similar recognition of a Palestinian state by three other European countries.
