Reality television stars Todd and Julie Chrisley have been serving their sentences in prison since January 2023 after being found guilty of federal fraud charges and hiding their wealth from tax authorities. Todd originally received a 12-year sentence at Federal Prison Camp Pensacola in Florida, while Julie was sentenced to seven years at the Federal Medical Center in Kentucky. Recently, Julie’s prison sentence was vacated due to a miscalculation by the original judge, and she is expected to be resentenced. Their daughter, Savannah Chrisley, shared on her podcast that they are hopeful for Julie’s early release.
The legal saga began in March 2017 when Todd Chrisley was investigated for failing to pay Georgia income taxes. In August 2019, both Todd and Julie were indicted for various fraud charges, and by June 2022, they were convicted. In November 2022, they were sentenced to prison, with Todd receiving 12 years and Julie seven years. Their accountant, Peter Tarantino, was also implicated in the scheme. Despite maintaining their innocence, the couple faced repercussions for their actions.
In July 2023, their son, Chase, described visiting his parents in prison, revealing the inhumane conditions they were enduring. However, in September 2023, the Federal Bureau of Prisons announced that Todd’s sentence had been shortened by two years. The family eagerly awaits Julie’s resentencing and hopes for her early release. Throughout the legal ordeal, the Chrisley family has remained united and supportive of one another.
