The Boston Red Sox secured an 8-3 victory over the Miami Marlins on Tuesday night, with Kutter Crawford delivering a stellar performance on the mound. Crawford allowed just one run on three hits over six innings, striking out seven batters in the process. The Red Sox offense was firing on all cylinders as Ceddanne Rafaela and Jarren Duran both hit home runs to contribute to the win.
Masataka Yoshida had a strong game with three hits, while Rafael Devers chipped in with two hits and two RBIs. Every player in the Red Sox lineup managed to get at least one hit during the game.
The Marlins managed to get on the board with a solo home run from Jake Burger, but they were unable to overcome the early lead established by the Red Sox. Despite late-game runs from Miami, Boston maintained their lead and secured the win.
In other news, the Marlins designated veteran shortstop Tim Anderson for assignment before the game. Signed to a one-year contract in spring training, Anderson struggled at the plate this season, hitting just .204 over 65 games.
Looking ahead, the Red Sox will send Brayan Bello to the mound for the second game of the series, while the Marlins will counter with Trevor Rogers. RHP Edward Cabrera is set to make a rehab start with Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday as he works his way back from a right shoulder impingement.
