One person was killed during a shooting outside a shopping center in Newport Beach, California. The victim, a 69-year-old woman, was killed by a vehicle driven by one of the suspects involved in a robbery at the mall’s Barnes and Noble. The suspect fled the scene on foot and fired multiple shots but did not hit any nearby shoppers. The Newport Beach Police responded to the incident and urged people to avoid the area. Two suspects in the car led police on a high-speed chase from Orange County into Los Angeles County, reaching speeds of up to 110 mph on the freeway before being apprehended in South Gate. One suspect was arrested at the scene while the other was taken into custody in Cypress.
