Worcester’s Polar Park was filled with nearly nine and a half thousand fans on July 4th for a Fourth of July celebration despite the WooSox losing to the Mets 9-1. Fans packed the stadium to enjoy the holiday festivities and fireworks, including seeing former Red Sox pitcher Dennis ‘Oil Can’ Boyd throw out the first pitch. The WooSox players wore American-themed jerseys and fans waved flags and showed their support with signs. Although the game didn’t go in Worcester’s favor, fan-favorite Jarren Duran’s former manager believes he has a strong chance to make the All-Star team. The celebration continued with Roberto the Rocket showing off dance moves and young fans having a great time. The bats were silent as the WooSox only managed four hits, all singles, in the game against the Mets. Despite the loss, manager Chad Tracy remains confident in his team and expressed support for Duran’s All-Star candidacy. The WooSox will face the Mets again on Friday night at Polar Park, with Grant Gambrell starting on the mound for Worcester. Fans are eager to see their team bounce back and hopeful for another entertaining night at the ballpark.
