Massachusetts Delegates Share Reasons for Supporting Biden in Recent Survey

A recent survey conducted by the MassINC Polling Group for Commonwealth Beacon revealed that the majority of Massachusetts delegates heading to the Democratic National Convention in Chicago are supportive of President Biden staying at the top of the ticket, despite calls for him to step down. The survey revealed that 62 percent of respondents support Biden, while 15 percent think he should drop out and 23 percent were unsure or preferred not to say.

Delegates expressed firm support for Biden and criticized the media for focusing on his age rather than on his opponent, former President Trump. Many delegates also commented on the need for party unity and cooperation in order to defeat Trump in November.

The survey also analyzed potential alternatives to Biden, with Vice President Kamala Harris being the top choice among respondents should Biden drop out. Other alternatives such as Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, Michelle Obama, and Pete Buttigieg also received some support.

The survey results provide insight into the views of Massachusetts delegates and their support for Biden as the Democratic nominee. With the Democratic National Convention approaching, the debate over Biden’s candidacy continues, but the survey indicates that a majority of delegates believe he has a strong chance of winning the election.
