Westfield residents can now enter their furry friends into the city’s Top Dog Contest for 2025, a competition that aims to promote dog licensing while also celebrating the community’s four-legged companions. City Clerk Kaitlyn Bruce emphasized the importance of licensing as a way to prevent rabies outbreaks and increase the chances of reuniting lost pets with their owners.
Participants can submit high-resolution photos of their dogs on the city’s website until Nov. 1, with the top five entries going up for public voting from Dec. 1-28. The winning dog will receive tag No. 1 for 2025, with the runner-ups receiving tags No. 2 and No. 3. Last year’s winner was Walter, a Doberman with a heartwarming story and an impressive track record of community service.
The contest has been a success in the past, with 107 entries in 2024 and an engaged voting process that highlighted the strong bond between Westfield residents and their pets. The winning dogs not only receive recognition but also become advocates for dog licensing and responsible pet ownership in the city.
For more information on how to participate in the contest, residents can contact the city clerk’s office. The Top Dog Contest is a fun and meaningful way for Westfield residents to come together and celebrate the special role that their beloved pets play in their lives.
