Derrick White of the Boston Celtics recently shared that he holds no ill will towards his teammate Jaylen Brown for his reaction to not being named to the United States men’s basketball team. Brown had expressed frustration when White was chosen to replace Kawhi Leonard on the roster. White revealed that Brown reached out to him to clear the air, and they are on good terms.
Despite Brown’s initial reaction on social media, where he expressed confusion and commented on Nike’s role in his snub, he later clarified his feelings to White in a private conversation. Brown attributed his exclusion from the roster to Nike, claiming they influenced the decision due to his past comments about the company. However, Team USA director Grant Hill denied Nike’s involvement, stating that White was chosen for his defensive skills.
White, who is now part of the Olympic team in Abu Dhabi, will play alongside his Celtics teammate Jayson Tatum in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. He expressed excitement about playing with Tatum and another teammate, Jrue Holiday, on the roster. Despite the initial controversy surrounding Brown’s exclusion from the team, both he and White have cleared the air and maintain a positive relationship. The Celtics fans can now look forward to seeing White and Tatum representing the team in the upcoming Olympics.
