Yankees Defeat Red Sox 8-2 in Final Game of Series

The New York Yankees secured an 8-2 victory over the Boston Red Sox on Sunday night, allowing them to win a series against their rivals for only the second time in their last 12 attempts. Carlos Rodón pitched a solid game, holding the Red Sox to two runs over 6 1/3 innings while striking out seven batters. Gleyber Torres contributed with a two-run single in the Yankees’ three-run first inning.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. made his Yankees debut, going 1 for 5 with a single and playing center field after being acquired from Miami. The Red Sox, on the other hand, suffered their seventh loss in nine games since the All-Star break.

Aaron Judge continued his strong performance by hitting an RBI single, following his career-high six times on base in their previous game. The Yankees capitalized on their early lead, scoring three runs in the first inning against Tanner Houck. Rob Refsnyder and Connor Wong managed to hit solo homers for the Red Sox, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Yankees’ lead.

The Yankees’ win marked their first series victory against the Red Sox this season, building momentum for their upcoming games. Manager Aaron Boone expects slugger Giancarlo Stanton to return from the injured list soon, boosting the team’s offense. The Red Sox, meanwhile, will be looking to bounce back in their next series against Seattle with RHP Nick Pivetta starting the first game.
