Third person is charged in shooting incident resulting in the death of a 17-year-old in Worcester

A 21-year-old man, Patrick Mathieu, was arrested on Monday in connection with the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old boy on Shannon Street in Worcester back in February. Mathieu is facing multiple charges including armed assault to murder, assault and battery with a firearm, and possession of ammunition without a FID card. This arrest makes him the third person to be charged in connection with the shooting incident.

The shooting took place on Feb. 12, and on Feb. 24, police had already arrested two individuals, Kidam Oquendo and Alexis Medeiros, in connection with the case. Oquendo is facing charges of armed assault with intent to murder and multiple firearms charges, while Medeiros is charged with accessory after the fact and obstruction of justice.

The investigation began when police responded to a ShotSpotter activation on Shannon Street in the early hours of Feb. 12 and found evidence of shots being fired. Upon further investigation, they discovered a 17-year-old boy who had been shot and killed. The victim has not been publicly identified.

Mathieu is currently being held in custody and is due to appear in court to face his charges. The Worcester Police Department continues to investigate the case and gather more information related to the incident.
