Footage captures the emotional rescue of a Kansas toddler from a 10-foot hole as he cries for help.

A quick-thinking police officer in central Kansas saved a 14-month-old boy who had fallen into a narrow pipe in a dramatic rescue captured on camera. The toddler, Bentley, was found stuck about 10 to 12 feet down a 12-inch-wide PVC pipe after his parents called 911 when they realized he had fallen in while playing outside their home in Moundridge. The boy’s father described the harrowing experience as horrifying and haunting, feeling helpless as his son cried for help. Officer Ronnie Wagner constructed a makeshift “catch pole” using a smaller PVC pipe and rope, which was essential in lifting Bentley safely from the pipe. The catch pole was used to wrap around the child’s body under his shoulders and lift him out of the hole. Once the pole was created, first responders were able to lower it into the hole, get the rope around Bentley’s body, and pull him to safety. The child was shaken but unharmed, and the police department thanked all first responders for their swift actions that turned a dangerous situation into a successful rescue. Dramatic video footage shows rescuers pulling Bentley out of the pipe and returning him to his parents. The heartwarming rescue highlighted the importance of quick thinking and teamwork in saving lives.
