Shooting in Georgia apartment claims life of Roger Fortson’s 16-year-old brother.

Months after U.S. Air Force senior airman Roger Fortson was fatally shot by a Florida deputy, his 16-year-old brother, Andre Fortson, was also killed in a shooting in Georgia. Andre was shot at an apartment complex in DeKalb County, just east of Atlanta, and the suspected shooter, Quintavious Zellner, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. Police believe that two groups of individuals were shooting at each other for unknown reasons, resulting in Andre’s death.

Family and community members mourned Andre’s death, describing him as a good and respectful boy. This tragedy comes as the Fortson family is still grieving the loss of Roger, who was killed by a sheriff’s deputy in Florida in May. The deputy’s use of force was found to be unreasonable by the sheriff’s office.

Civil rights attorney Ben Crump confirmed the tragic loss of Andre, expressing the family’s devastation at losing another young member so soon after Roger’s death. The family has requested privacy and space during this incredibly difficult time.

The death of both Roger and Andre Fortson highlights the ongoing issue of gun violence and the devastating impact it has on families and communities. The Fortson family is dealing with unimaginable grief and loss, and is seeking justice for both Roger and Andre as they navigate this heartbreaking situation.
