Uganda’s Joshua Cheptegei claimed gold in the men’s Olympic 10,000-metre event at the Stade de France, setting an Olympic record of 26 minutes and 43.14 seconds. He added the 10,000 metres title to his previous gold in the 5,000 metres event. Cheptegei’s strong finish took 18 seconds off Kenenisa Bekele’s 2008 Olympic record. Ethiopia’s Berihu Aregawi took the silver, edging out American Grant Fisher by two-hundredths of a second.

In the 4×400 mixed relay, Team USA set a new world record of 3 minutes 7.41 seconds in the opening heats, surpassing their previous mark set at the 2023 World Championships. The French team finished second in 3:10.60, cheered on by a home crowd at the Stade de France.

The men’s 10,000-metre race saw a thrilling finish with Cheptegei surging ahead in the final kilometer to secure victory. All 13 athletes in the pack finished in under 27 minutes, showcasing a high level of competition.
