Olympic skateboarder refuses to let dislocated shoulder stop him from competing – NBC New York

16-year-old Team Great Britain skateboarder Sky Brown refuses to let a dislocated shoulder stop her from competing in the 2024 Olympics. Brown, who sustained the injury just before departing for Paris, is determined to compete with the help of braces provided by her medical team. This perseverance is not new to the athlete, who previously recovered from multiple injuries sustained in a skateboarding accident in 2020.

Despite her injuries, Brown competed in the Tokyo Games the following year and won bronze at just 13 years old, becoming the youngest Olympic medalist for her team. Brown’s resilience and recovery journey have been an inspiration to many, with the athlete sharing the video of her fall on YouTube to show that everyone falls but what’s important is getting back up.

In addition to her Olympic success, Brown has also won various skateboarding competitions, including “Dancing with the Stars: Juniors” in 2018 and the X Games women’s skateboarding park gold medal in 2021. Her determination and positive attitude continue to inspire others, with Brown’s message being that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. U.S. skateboarders Nyjah Huston and Minna Stess are also gearing up to showcase their skills at the 2024 Olympics alongside Brown.
