Simone Biles embraces her work as a Black athlete, in response to Donald Trump

Olympic gymnastics champion Simone Biles made a statement in the U.S. presidential race with a social media post aimed at former President Donald Trump’s comments about “Black jobs.” After winning her ninth gold medal at the Olympics, Biles responded to a post praising her achievements by saying, “I love my black job.” Trump had previously faced criticism for his remarks about immigrants taking “Black jobs” and “Hispanic jobs” from Americans during a debate with President Joe Biden.

Trump’s comments sparked outrage and accusations of racism from critics, who called his statements insulting. Biles’ post comes amid a larger conversation about race and equality in the United States. Trump’s running mate, Ohio Sen. JD Vance, had previously criticized Biles for her decision to withdraw from the 2021 Olympics competition for mental health reasons.

Both Trump’s campaign and Biles’ representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the matter. Biles’ post has sparked discussion about her potential involvement in the 2024 U.S. presidential election. As the oldest Olympic women’s gymnastics champion since 1952, Biles continues to make headlines both on and off the mat.
