Partial Closure of Green Line B Branch for Track Improvements for the Week

A 10-day closure of a section of the Green Line B Branch between Boston College and Babcock Street is currently ongoing for track repairs. The closure, part of the Track Improvement Program, is expected to eliminate speed restrictions along the track and improve overall safety and reliability for riders. Shuttle buses are in place to provide alternative transportation during the closure.

The project includes track replacement work near Warren, Allston, and Griggs Street stops, as well as the installation of new track, repaving, and intersection safety improvements near Boston College. The work aims to remove eight speed restrictions on the line and bring all tracks into a state of good repair by 2024.

According to the MBTA, riders can expect a safer and more reliable ride on the B branch once the repairs are completed. Accessibility improvements and rail replacements are also being made between Sutherland Road and Chiswick Road stops. The T is encouraging riders to visit mbta.com/TrackProgram or follow their social media accounts for more information on the project.

The closure is part of a larger effort by the MBTA to improve tracks on the Red, Orange, Green, and Blue lines, with the goal of enhancing the overall transit experience for riders.
