Red Sox defeat Rangers 7-2 with two home runs from Abreu

Wilyer Abreu led the Boston Red Sox to a 7-2 victory over the Texas Rangers with two home runs and four RBIs. Jarren Duran also contributed with a tiebreaking homer in the fifth inning. Boston’s pitching held strong, with Nick Pivetta allowing only two hits before being replaced by rookie Cam Booser, who pitched a perfect 1 1/3 innings.

Corey Seager and Josh Jung homered for the Rangers, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the offensive power of the Red Sox. Abreu’s multihomer game marked a career milestone for the player, as he hit a solo shot in the fourth inning to tie the game and later a three-run shot in the sixth to secure the win for Boston.

The victory was a team effort, with David Hamilton also contributing a homer for the Red Sox. The Rangers struggled against Boston’s bullpen, as the relievers retired 13 of the 14 batters they faced.

In terms of injuries, the Red Sox had outfielder Tyler O’Neill available after recovering from an illness, while pitcher Chris Martin might join the bullpen soon. The Rangers placed LHP Jacob Latz on the injured list with forearm tightness.

Looking ahead, the Red Sox will face the Kansas City Royals, with James Paxton set to start. Meanwhile, the Rangers will take on the Houston Astros with Andrew Heaney scheduled to pitch. Overall, the Red Sox’s strong performance against the Rangers sets them up for continued success in the upcoming games.
