The Pacific Northwest is currently facing a crisis with over 1 million acres burned in major fires in Oregon and Washington. Governor Jay Inslee has issued an emergency proclamation for the state to address the situation. There are 32 major fires in the region that are less than 99% contained, leading to over 9,000 people under evacuation notices in Oregon alone.

In Oregon, the Durkee Fire has burned almost 295,000 acres and is 80% contained, while the nearby Cow Valley fire is 99% contained after burning 133,490 acres. The Falls Fire has burned over 145,000 acres and is flanked by the Telephone Fire, putting over 2,300 people under evacuation notices. The Monkey Creek Fire near the Oregon-Washington border has burned 113,902 acres and is 32% contained, leading to over 2,800 evacuation notices.

In Washington, the Pioneer Fire has burned 35,477 acres and is threatening structures, while the Swawilla I Fire has burned 53,403 acres and is 85% contained. The Retreat Fire in southern Washington has burned nearly 41,000 acres and is 40% contained.

Overall, the fires in the Pacific Northwest have caused significant devastation and displacement, with authorities working tirelessly to contain the blazes and ensure the safety of residents in the affected areas.
