Authorities seek assistance in locating individual responsible for leaving 49 guinea pigs in distressing circumstances

Authorities are in search of information regarding nearly 50 guinea pigs that were discovered abandoned on a trail near Beaver Brook in Dracut. The Dracut Police Chief, Peter Bartlett, stated that the guinea pigs appeared to be in poor condition and lethargic when they were found on Monday afternoon. Animal Control was able to rescue the 49 guinea pigs and bring them to the Lowell Humane Society for veterinary care.

Due to their current health status, the guinea pigs are not yet available for adoption. Bartlett is urging anyone with information about the circumstances surrounding the abandonment of these animals to come forward and assist in the investigation. The welfare of the guinea pigs is a top priority, and authorities are working to ensure they receive the proper care and attention they need.

The abandonment of such a large number of animals is a concerning and disturbing situation. The Dracut Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the individuals responsible for leaving the guinea pigs in such a condition. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the authorities to help bring those responsible to justice.

In the meantime, the guinea pigs remain in the care of the Lowell Humane Society as they continue to receive veterinary treatment. The society is dedicated to ensuring that these animals are rehabilitated and eventually placed in loving homes once they are ready for adoption.
