An off-duty Beverly Hills police officer shot and killed an armed person engaged in a brawl on the street in North Hills, California. The incident occurred after the officer and a friend witnessed two men fighting, one armed with a pipe and the other with a gun. The officer intervened by shooting the man with the gun, while the other fled the scene. The man with the gun died, and the man with the pipe was apprehended later that night. The off-duty officer cooperated with authorities and an investigation is underway by LAPD detectives. The identities of those involved have not been disclosed. LAPD Captain Brian Wendling stated that the circumstances surrounding the incident are not yet clear, but emphasized that off-duty officers have a duty to intervene when someone’s life is in danger.
