Red Sox manager reveals reasoning behind optioning Vaughn Grissom to Triple-A

The Red Sox activated Vaughn Grissom from the injured list and optioned him to Triple-A on Thursday. Manager Alex Cora explained that the decision was made in order to give Grissom the opportunity to continue his development and build up his strength after a series of injuries derailed his first season in Boston. Grissom, who was acquired in a trade for Chris Sale, missed all of spring training and struggled offensively upon returning to the lineup. Cora emphasized the need for patience with the young second baseman and expressed confidence in his future with the team. By sending Grissom to Triple-A, the Red Sox hope to provide him with regular playing time and the opportunity to continue improving both offensively and defensively. This move will also give him the necessary time to recover and ramp up physically after his rehab assignment expired. While Grissom may be disappointed with the decision, the organization believes that it is in his best interest for long-term success.
