Triston Casas is unlikely to return before the end of the Red Sox’ homestand

Triston Casas, a promising first baseman for the Red Sox, is on track to make a return to the team after a successful rehab stint with Triple-A Worcester. Casas has played seven games with Worcester, hitting .286 with a .839 OPS, although he has yet to hit a home run. Despite still feeling some pain in his ribs during swings, Casas is progressing well in his recovery.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora remains optimistic about Casas’s return, noting that he is still working on his craft before rejoining the team. While Casas is not expected to be back in the lineup in the next few days, his return would be a significant boost for the team.

The Red Sox have been holding their own without Casas in the lineup, but his absence has been felt after his strong performances last season and the early part of this season. Casas emerged as one of the best hitting first basemen in baseball, hitting .317 with a 1.034 OPS and 15 homers in 2020. He got off to a good start this season, hitting .244 with a .857 OPS and six homers in 22 games before his injury.

As the Red Sox finish up their current homestand and prepare to hit the road, fans are eagerly awaiting Casas’s return to the lineup. His presence will undoubtedly provide a much-needed boost to the team’s offense as they continue their push towards the playoffs.
