The Trump campaign used the song at a rally in Bozeman, Montana, where he targeted his Democratic opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris. Meanwhile, Harris has been using Beyoncé’s song “Freedom” during her campaign events, with Beyoncé reportedly granting permission for its use.
The Trump campaign did not respond to requests for comment on the matter. Dion’s management and Sony Music Entertainment Canada Inc. were made aware of the unauthorized use of the song on Saturday, leading to the statement from Dion’s team denouncing the use of her music. This incident highlights the ongoing issue of musicians objecting to their songs being used without permission at political events.
