Astros top Red Sox 10-2 with Alex Bregman’s 3-run home run

The Boston Red Sox suffered a tough loss to the Houston Astros, completing a three-game series sweep with a final score of 10-2. The Astros, led by Alex Bregman’s three-run homer, dominated the game and extended their winning streak to five. Yordan Alvarez also contributed with his third homer in two games.

The Red Sox, on the other hand, have been struggling, losing four straight games and giving up a league-worst 47 homers since the All-Star break. Starting pitcher James Paxton had to leave the game early due to a strained calf.

Astros manager Joe Espada praised his team’s performance, highlighting the big swings and quality at-bats throughout the series. Houston improved to seven games over .500 with this win.

Yainer Diaz had a two-run double, Jeremy Peña added a two-run homer, and Hunter Brown struck out nine in 5 1/3 innings for the Astros. The team’s offense was on fire, with key players delivering strong performances.

Alvarez, who has been exceptional in Fenway Park with a .482 average in 15 career games, was compared to Red Sox legend David Ortiz by manager Alex Cora. The Astros will face the Tampa Bay Rays next, while the Red Sox will take on the Texas Rangers.
