The city of Worcester is giving residents a chance to design their own election day sticker through a campaign called “Create the Vote.” Residents can submit up to three designs online by September 1, with finalist designs going to a social media vote on official platforms. The winning design must include the phrase “My vote counts” and will receive a $300 prize.
The Cultural Development Division and Election Commission of Worcester are partnering for this initiative, following the success of a similar campaign in 2020. The stickers will be available for both in-person and mail-in voters, with more than 16,000 residents registered to vote by mail in Worcester.
Designers are encouraged to submit their designs in languages other than English to promote inclusivity and must adhere to specific guidelines, including a limit of six colors and a resolution of 300 DPI. The design must also reflect voting tradition, creativity, uniqueness, visual impact, and design quality.
The winning sticker will be distributed to voters in time for election day. Residents of Worcester are eligible to participate in this creative voter engagement initiative, and submissions from participants under 18 years old will require parental or guardian signature.
For those interested in submitting their designs, more information and requirements can be found on the official submission page. The deadline for all submissions is September 1, and voting will close on September 8.
