Rob Refsnyder’s walkoff RBI single gives Red Sox victory in 10th inning


The Red Sox overcame a rough night at the plate to walk off with a 5-4 victory over the Rangers at Fenway Park on Monday. After going 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position and leaving 12 men on base, they finally broke through in the 10th inning, with Rob Refsnyder delivering a walkoff single.

Pitcher Brayan Bello returned from paternity leave and allowed just one run in 6 innings against the Rangers. Rookie David Hamilton stole his 30th base, becoming just the third Red Sox rookie ever to accomplish this feat.

The Red Sox took the lead in the fifth inning with five walks, forcing in two runs against the Rangers. However, the bullpen blew the lead in the seventh inning when Corey Seager hit a game-tying home run off left-handed pitcher Bailey Horn.

The Red Sox will face the Rangers again on Tuesday in the second game of their series. Kutter Crawford will start for the Red Sox, facing off against José Ureña of the Rangers.

Despite struggles at the plate and in the bullpen, the Red Sox managed to come away with a hard-fought victory on Monday night, showcasing resilience and determination that will serve them well as they continue their push towards the postseason.
