Dover doctor facing murder charges requests access to investigators’ phone records

Ingolf Tuerk, a former Dover surgeon accused of murdering his wife, Kathleen McLean, in 2020, is seeking access to cellphones and electronic devices of several investigators involved in his case. This includes embattled Massachusetts State Police Trooper Michael Proctor, who was suspended without pay following his testimony in another trial. Tuerk’s lawyer filed a motion requesting communication records from eight State Police and Dover Police Department investigators, citing Proctor’s inappropriate texts about a different case.

Proctor, along with two other troopers, is facing internal affairs investigations following his derogatory remarks about a defendant. Tuerk’s lawyer referenced these investigations in the court motion. The Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office confirmed that Proctor’s testimony and suspension have been flagged in other cases he worked on, indicating potential issues with investigations led by the trooper.

Tuerk, who pleaded not guilty to killing his wife, allegedly confessed to strangling McLean and disposing of her body. His lawyer argued that McLean’s death occurred during an argument where she attacked Tuerk, leading to her accidental death. The case is ongoing, with a hearing scheduled for September 11 to address the motion for access to investigators’ communication records. The district attorney’s office stated that they are committed to fulfilling their discovery obligations in each case and will address any arising issues.
