Qatari Intelligence Chief Recognized by CIA with Award for Security Cooperation


CIA Director Bill Burns has awarded Qatar’s State Security Agency chief Abdullah bin Mohammed al-Khulaifi with the George Tenet medal for his efforts in advancing intelligence cooperation between the two countries. The award, given in appreciation of al-Khulaifi’s role in maintaining national and regional security, recognizes his exceptional support in preserving the interests and security of both the US and Qatar. Qatar and the US have a longstanding relationship, with the US Air Force base at Al-Udeid located in Qatar. George Tenet, the former CIA chief for eight years, is known for his involvement in military invasions in Afghanistan and Iraq under Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush.

The award highlights the importance of intelligence cooperation between Qatar and the US in ensuring regional security and stability. Al-Khulaifi’s efforts have been crucial in enhancing this partnership and preventing terrorist threats in the Middle East. The recognition from the CIA further solidifies the strong ties between the two nations in the realm of intelligence sharing and security cooperation.
