Get ready to fall back: Daylight Saving Time in 2024

The end of daylight saving time is approaching, giving Americans an extra hour of sleep when clocks fall back in November. Daylight saving time began in March, with Americans setting their clocks forward to add more daylight to mornings or evenings. This time adjustment affects daily routines, leading to less sleep and changes in schedules for children and pets. The autumnal equinox marks the start of fall, and daylight saving time started in March 2024 and will end in November 2024. While there have been efforts to make daylight saving time permanent, such as the Sunshine Protection Act, it has not been passed into law. Not all states and U.S. territories participate in daylight saving time, with Hawaii, Arizona, and some territories choosing not to observe the time change. The Navajo Nation, however, does follow daylight saving time. As the end of daylight saving time approaches, Americans will gain an extra hour of sleep before the process begins again in March 2025.
