Polish Space Science Achieves Historic Milestone with Successful Launch of Eagleeye Satellite

Poland’s space industry achieved a historic milestone with the successful launch of the EagleEye satellite into Earth’s orbit. The project, which began in April 2020, involved a consortium of industrial and scientific organizations led by Creotech Instruments S.A. The satellite, designed entirely in Poland, will provide high-resolution images of the Earth for research and monitoring purposes.

Facilitated by SpaceX, the launch took place from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. The mission is expected to last at least one year, with the control center located at Creotech Instruments’ headquarters in Warsaw. The satellite will orbit the Earth at a low altitude, gradually descending from 500 kilometers to 350 kilometers.

Dr. Barciński, a key figure in the project, emphasized the significance of this achievement and the importance of the technological advancements made in the design of the satellite. While some components were not locally made, such as microprocessors, the satellite is equipped with state-of-the-art technology.

The successful launch of the EagleEye satellite highlights Poland’s growing presence in the space industry and its ability to contribute to global scientific efforts. This marks a new chapter for Polish space science and technology, paving the way for future missions and collaborations in the field.

Overall, the EagleEye project represents a significant step forward for Poland’s space industry and demonstrates the country’s capabilities in designing and launching satellites for scientific research and monitoring purposes.
