Democratic presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris continues to maintain a narrow lead over Republican nominee former President Donald Trump as the betting favorite to win the White House. This trend shifted towards Harris during the Harris-Walz ticket’s honeymoon period but has remained steady leading up to the Democratic National Convention starting Monday.
As of late Sunday, Harris remained in the lead at -125 with Trump at even money according to bookmaker Bet365. The convention could potentially provide Harris with a final boost before the campaign’s intense final stretch.
Historically, the betting favorite has only lost twice since 1866, with the upsets occurring in 1948 and 2016. In 2020, Joe Biden held the betting favorite position from May through November.
While U.S. bookmakers are not legally able to participate in the betting action, odds from various sources indicate that Harris currently holds the advantage over Trump. The outcome of the 2024 presidential election remains uncertain, with the final results dependent on a multitude of factors including campaigning, debates, and voter sentiment.
