Three Springfield men were arrested by Springfield police on Thursday following a shooting at a local barbershop. Jesus Cabrera, Juan Rios, and Victor Cabrera-Quinones are facing a variety of charges, including possession of weapons and ammunition, tampering with evidence, assault, and reckless driving.
Police were alerted to the shooting at the barbershop on St. James Avenue around 10:10 a.m., and quickly spotted a car leaving the scene. Cabrera-Quinones attempted to evade the police by driving erratically and running red lights before ultimately getting stuck in traffic and surrendering to the authorities. A firearm capable of holding 12 rounds of ammunition was found in the car.
Cabrera and Rios were seen attempting to discard a shell casing before being apprehended by the police. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the shooting incident.
In addition to the charges related to the barbershop shooting, Cabrera-Quinones also had outstanding warrants for assault and battery on a family member and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in Lowell District Court.
