When will the first presidential debate take place between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris?

The first presidential debate between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris has been scheduled to take place in Philadelphia at the National Constitutional Center on Tuesday, Sept. 10. The Harris-Walz campaign announced that Trump’s campaign accepted their proposal for three debates – two presidential and one vice presidential. The first debate will be moderated by ABC News anchors David Muir and Linsey Davis, with a pre-debate special hosted by other ABC News personalities. The debate will air on ABC and stream on ABC News Live, Disney+, and Hulu.

The qualification requirements for the debate include meeting the constitutional requirements to serve as president, appearing on a sufficient number of state ballots to attain a majority of electoral votes, and reaching at least 15% support in four separate national polls conducted by specified organizations. Trump’s running mate, Sen. JD Vance, and Harris’ running mate, Gov. Tim Walz, have also agreed to a vice presidential debate on Oct. 1.

The campaign also mentioned potential debate dates of Sept. 4 and Sept. 25, with details to be finalized with the Harris campaign. Trump’s campaign has also proposed a CNN debate between Vance and Walz on Sept. 18, but Walz has not confirmed his attendance. Overall, the debate schedule leading up to the election promises to offer voters insights into the candidates’ positions and policies.
