Former “Boy Meets World” star Danielle Fishel revealed on her podcast that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer. At 43 years old, Fishel has been diagnosed with DCIS, a form of breast cancer at stage 0, with a high survival rate. Fishel stressed the importance of regular checkups and early detection in catching the disease.
Fishel shared her diagnosis in hopes of encouraging women to prioritize their health and schedule mammograms regularly. The United States Preventive Services Task Force recommends mammograms every other year starting at age 40, though some doctors believe they should be done annually for women in their 40s to catch aggressive breast cancers that grow quickly.
Inspired by author Glennon Doyle, Fishel decided to be open about her diagnosis from the beginning and is currently meeting with specialists to formulate a treatment plan. She acknowledged that she may have to put some of her work on hold as she navigates her treatment.
Fishel’s story serves as a reminder of the importance of early detection and regular screenings in the fight against breast cancer. With a positive outlook and determination to beat the disease, she hopes to inspire others to prioritize their health and seek medical attention if needed.
