The third day of the 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago featured speeches from prominent Democrats such as former President Barack Obama, former first lady Michelle Obama, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, and second gentleman Doug Emhoff. Other heavyweights like former President Bill Clinton were also expected to speak leading up to Vice President Kamala Harris accepting the party’s presidential nomination on Thursday. The convention comes after a turbulent few months for Democrats following President Biden’s decision not to seek reelection and his endorsement of Harris as the nominee.
The DNC is scheduled to run from August 19-22 at the United Center in Chicago. The full schedule for Wednesday included various caucus and council meetings throughout the day, leading up to the main programming in the evening. The convention will air live on its website between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. Eastern each night, with livestream coverage provided by USA TODAY on YouTube.
The nightly themes for the convention have been announced as “For the People, For Our Future.” Each night has a different theme, with Wednesday’s theme focused on “A Fight for our Freedoms.” Overall, the convention aims to highlight the Democratic Party’s vision for the future and its commitment to the American people.
