The Worcester Red Sox emerged victorious with an 8-5 win over the Norfolk Tides in the first of a six-game series at Harbor Park Stadium in Norfolk, Virginia. Roman Anthony stood out with a four-hit, 3 RBI performance, while Kristian Campbell, in his first game with the WooSox, contributed two hits and three RBIs.
Campbell’s promotion from Double-A Portland proved successful as he made an immediate impact with his first Triple-A hit and RBI to give Worcester an early lead. Roman Anthony also made a mark by hitting his first Triple-A homer in the second inning.
After falling behind, the WooSox quickly struck back, with Campbell and other players adding to the lead. The bullpen, led by Chase Shugart and Yohan Ramirez, held strong to secure the victory. The team has now won nine of their last 11 games and sits three games over the .500 mark in the second half of the season.
The next game in the series is set for Wednesday, with Richard Fitts scheduled to start for Worcester against Justin Armbruester for Norfolk. The WooSox will look to continue their winning streak and extend their lead in the series against the Tides.
