Rich Hill offered a ‘realistic’ projection for when he might rejoin the Red Sox

The Red Sox have re-signed pitcher Rich Hill on a minor-league deal for the 2024 season. This will mark Hill’s fourth tenure with the team and he brings valuable experience to the table. Hill recently discussed his decision to return and his hopes of making it back to the MLB roster before September 1.

The 44-year-old pitcher is currently with the team’s Triple-A affiliate, the Worcester Red Sox, and is aiming to bring his understanding and experience of pitching in the postseason to the team. The Red Sox are currently 3.5 games behind the Twins for the final American League wild card spot.

In his previous five seasons with the Red Sox, Hill compiled a 12-8 record with a 3.31 ERA over 185 innings pitched. The team’s recent victory against the Astros keeps their playoff hopes alive as they prepare to face the Diamondbacks in Arizona.

In other news, Red Sox pitcher Wes Ferrell had an impressive performance in 1934, hitting two home runs and recording a win over the White Sox. Frenchman Titouan Droguet showcased an unorthodox approach in the U.S. Open qualifiers, and Canadian Gabriel Diallo emerged victorious in the match.

Overall, Hill’s return to the Red Sox adds depth to their pitching staff and his experience could prove valuable as the team aims for a postseason berth.
