Ex-Patriots Quarterback Shines in Last Preseason Game

Former Patriots quarterback Mac Jones has found a new home with the Jacksonville Jaguars and is making a strong case to be the backup behind Trevor Lawrence. In the preseason game against the Falcons, Jones completed 13 of 18 passes for 113 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions. In three preseason games, he has totaled 421 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions. His performance has put him ahead of injured veteran C.J. Beathard for the backup role.

After a promising rookie season with the Patriots, Jones struggled in his second year under new offensive coordinator Matt Patricia. He was eventually benched and traded to the Jaguars. Coach Doug Pederson has been impressed with Jones’ performance, praising his ability to manage and run the offense effectively. Pederson noted that Jones occasionally reverts back to his Patriots ways but overall has done a good job leading the Jaguars’ offense.

With Jones solidifying his position as the backup quarterback, he is showing that he can bounce back from a disappointing season and make a positive impact with his new team. The Jaguars are looking to Jones to provide stability and leadership behind Lawrence, and his preseason performance has been a promising sign for the team’s quarterback position.
