The United States has offered Ukraine $125 million in military assistance, including air defense munitions, ammunition, and anti-armor missiles. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged Ukrainian President Zelenskyy to engage in talks with Russia to end the conflict and offered assistance in achieving peace. Military aid totaling $125 million from Latvia was also announced.
On the battlefield, Russia declared a state of emergency after a drone attack in Voronezh. Ukrainian forces destroyed a ferry in a Russian port used to supply Crimea, leading to the suspension of a ferry service. A Russian attack in the Kharkiv region resulted in civilian casualties.
Former UN weapons inspector Hans Blix expressed confidence that Putin would not endanger the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. The US imposed sanctions on 400 entities, including Chinese companies, for supporting Russia’s war effort. The European Commission rejected requests from Hungary and Slovakia to mediate sanctions imposed by Ukraine on Russian oil producer Lukoil.
The international community continues to grapple with the humanitarian crisis and escalating tensions in Ukraine. The conflict shows no signs of abating as both diplomatic and military efforts are pursued to bring an end to the violence and suffering.
