Norfolk snaps WooSox’s seven-game winning streak despite Roman Anthony’s strong performance

The Worcester Red Sox saw their seven-game winning streak come to an end on Saturday night as they fell to the Norfolk Tides by a final score of 6-3. Roman Anthony homered for a second consecutive game, giving the WooSox an early 1-0 lead with a lead-off homer. Despite Kyle Teel scoring from first on an RBI double from Eddy Alvarez to tie the game in the fourth, the Tides regained the lead and ultimately sealed the win with three runs in the eighth inning. WooSox starter Jason Alexander went five innings, allowing three runs on six hits.

The 20-year-old outfielder, Anthony, has been on fire in the series against Norfolk, going 10-for-22 with three homers and seven RBIs. This performance included his first Triple-A home run, a 415-foot shot off the bat at 108.1 mph. The loss puts the WooSox at a 27-22 record for the season.

The two teams will wrap up their six-game series on Sunday, with right-hander Justin Hagenman taking the mound for the WooSox. Fans can tune in to radio coverage beginning at 3:45 p.m. on 98.9 Nash Icon and the rest of the WooSox Radio Network. Despite the loss, the WooSox remain in a solid position with a season-best winning streak under their belt.
