A Chicopee man was arrested after driving past a stop sign and speeding in Springfield last Friday. Alexander Negron, 38, was found with hundreds of bags of heroin, crack cocaine, and a loaded ghost gun with a 50-round magazine in his car. Springfield police spotted Negron driving past a stop sign near Wilcox Street and pulled him over near Exit 6 on I-91 North. Negron, who has previous convictions for heroin distribution and assaulting police officers, was arrested on charges including carrying a firearm without a license and cocaine trafficking. In total, over $1,500 in cash, 60 bags of heroin, and 14 bags of crack cocaine were found on Negron, with an additional 200 bags of heroin and the loaded ghost gun found inside the vehicle. This incident comes as Governor Healey signed a bill targeting hard-to-trace ghost guns. Negron is facing serious charges and will appear in court to answer for his alleged crimes.
