The Boston Celtics are gearing up for training camp with six non-roster players vying for spots. Among them is NBA veteran Lonnie Walker IV, who signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the team. Walker, a 6-foot-4 wing, is known for his efficient long-range shooting and could provide valuable depth off the bench.
Walker will have to earn his spot on the roster, as the team returns most of its championship core from last season. The Celtics are looking for players who can contribute to team success, like Jayson Tatum, who recently received praise from Tom Brady for his professionalism at the Olympics despite a reduced role.
In addition to Walker, rookies Anton Watson and Tristan Enaruna, G Leaguers JD Davison, Drew Peterson, and Ron Harper Jr., and other players on two-way deals are also competing for spots. The team has been busy in the offseason, signing first-round pick Baylor Scheierman and making appearances at various events.
Off the court, former Celtic Derrick White received a standing ovation at a University of Colorado football game, while head coach Joe Mazzulla has been making appearances at different events around the community. Former Celtic Glen “Big Baby” Davis had his prison term delayed to finish a documentary about his life. It’s an exciting time for the Celtics as they prepare for the upcoming season with new faces and familiar ones striving for success on and off the court.
