Former NFL coach Matt Patricia has made a surprise appearance on Bill Belichick’s new YouTube show, “Coach,” with Underdog Fantasy. In a preview clip, Patricia is seen standing at a podium alongside Belichick as they discuss the New York Jets offense. It is unclear if Patricia will be a co-host for the show or just a guest for this particular segment.
This marks Patricia’s first public appearance since leaving the Philadelphia Eagles earlier in the year. Patricia had joined the Eagles as a “senior defensive assistant” last season, but was eventually let go after the team’s defense struggled. Following his departure from the Eagles, Patricia expressed interest in exploring other opportunities.
Patricia’s coaching career has been a roller-coaster ride, starting as an assistant with the New England Patriots in 2004 and eventually becoming the team’s defensive coordinator. In 2018, he was hired as the head coach of the Detroit Lions, where he faced criticism before being fired early in his third season.
In 2021, Patricia returned to New England as a “senior football advisor” before taking on the roles of offensive line coach and offensive playcaller in 2022, a move that was met with backlash and disappointing results.
“Coach” has yet to announce a premiere date, but the preview clip indicates that the show will be “coming soon.” Fans of both Belichick and Patricia will be eager to see what insights they will bring to the new show.
