The Boston Bruins are facing uncertainty as star goaltender Jeremy Swayman remains in negotiations for a new deal. Despite positive statements from both sides, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reports that they are far apart on terms. The Bruins have apparently offered a 4-year, $6.2 million contract, while Swayman is reportedly seeking a much higher figure, potentially in line with Charlie McAvoy’s $9.5 million deal. Talks have not come close to reaching an agreement, with a previous offer of an eight-year deal in the six million range also falling short. With training camp set to begin on September 15, time is running out for a resolution. Although there was a recent one-on-one meeting between Swayman and Bruins president Cam Neely, Friedman does not believe it has changed the negotiation landscape. Both sides remain hopeful for a deal but significant work still needs to be done to bridge the financial gap. If Swayman is to secure his role as the team’s top goaltender in the long term, a compromise must be reached soon. Bruins fans eagerly await a resolution as the team prepares for the upcoming season.
