Family man James Lis, from Palmer, honored in memory following tragic motorcycle accident in Hadley


The Palmer community is mourning the loss of James Lis, a beloved resident who was tragically killed in a motorcycle crash in Hadley last month. The 70-year-old was known for his unwavering commitment to family and leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness.

According to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office, the fatal accident occurred when a truck driving south on East Street collided with Lis’ motorcycle as he was heading north. Despite being taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Lis succumbed to his injuries.

Lis, born on Jan. 21, 1954, to Frederick and Marion Lis, was a proud Palmer native who had deep roots in the town. He graduated from Palmer High School and was a respected member of the community. Lis’ dedication to his family and his warm personality touched the lives of many, and his presence will be greatly missed.

As friends and family gather to remember James Lis and celebrate his life, the Palmer community is reminded of the importance of cherishing loved ones and cultivating strong bonds.
